What is the best proxy site for youtube in china?

If you live in China you will no doubt already know that Facebook, Youtube, Twitter and many other sites are all blocked. Normally you would pay for a VPN service to tunnel out from the Chinese firewall (also know as the the Great Firewall GFW) or you would use a proxy service.

The problem with a VPN is that you have to pay for it and many of the VPN sites are blocked from within China, so you can't even access them in the first place! The free programs tend to be quite unstable and the speeds are slow and you have no idea what information the free proxy sites are logging, they could very easily be recording all your passwords.

I recently discovered how to set up my own safe and secure private proxy server for free, on Google's servers using a script called GoAgent. It is very easy to setup and if you follow the instructions correctly, it should take you no longer than 10 minutes to get up and running!

3 Ways to Successfully Access Facebook in China

One of the big issues travelers face when visiting China are the restrictions that the Chinese government places on internet access. Specifically, popular social sites such as Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube are blocked by the government's firewalls, as well as various news outlets. If you want to share your travel experiences with your friends and family, follow this guide to get around the blocks and access the sites that you want to.

Maar buitenlanders zullen weinig last krijgen.

How to unblock Dropbox/Skydrive blocked in China?

I plan to use the cloud-based service for storing my photos during the trip. I figure Mongolia would be fine in this respect, and I know it's impossible in the DPRK, but since I don't expect crime in the DPRK so it would be fine. However, I'm not so sure about China. Even I traveled there 2 years ago and felt perfectly safe, but still I don't want to risk losing precious photos during the trip. Now I'm using dropbox and skydrive, and I wonder if these two sites are blocked in China (I know GoogleDrive is blocked)? Also, I'm wondering if Skype is blocked there as well??

I have a bit of question about VPN though. I'm studying at a US university, thus have a complimentary access to its VPN. I used it in China 2 years ago. I found no problem at a hotel in Shanghai and at Beijing airport, where the internet connections are fast. However, when I stayed in a hostel, where the internet connection can be slow, I can't really open facebook or youtube through VPN at all. I'm not sure if you have experienced similar problems? Are there any "faster" VPN, or am I better off going to the internet cafes in this regard?

How to Unblock Twitter in China?

Internet censorship has become a major issue these days in many regions around the world. Censorship is done for political and cultural reasons mostly. The most dominant censor ship is political. Many countries tend to keep their citizens at bay from sites that will allow you to exchange political opinions or read the opinions of other people about your country and political system. The biggest example of such censorship is China. China has blocked almost all websites that are among the top 20 most visited websites in the world. This list includes internet giants like Google, Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube. The firewall implemented at the national level by Chinese government is also called as the 'Great Firewall of China'. This nickname certainly tells us how effective the firewall is.

 Ban on Social Media Sites:

China has a long history of strict ban on social media sites. Chinese government maintains that too much interaction with foreign culture and people might make their own rich cultural heritage 'polluted'. Although this ban is not popular, you will see that China is one of those nations that has very successfully been able to maintain bond with its own culture strong and flourishing. China has banned almost all international social media sites including Facebook and Twitter. Chinese people, like other netizens around the world, wish to access these websites to increase their international interaction. Today we will know how you can access twitter in China!

Accessing Twitter in China:

There are multiple ways in which one can access Twitter in China. The most common way that comes to mind is using a Proxy. Proxy services are mainly free and are so many, that blocking them all in virtually impossible. However, proxies have 2 major issues that can lead to trouble. Firstly, proxies are unreliable when it comes to availability and bandwidth. You may have to browse like a 56k modem whilst having a 10Mbps connection due to a slow proxy server. Secondly, you can even get arrested as proxies are not encrypted and your activity can easily be monitored by the government or your ISP. If the concerned authority catches you using Twitter, you will be in trouble! The best and proven way to use Twitter in China is by subscribing to a Virtual Private Network (VPN) Service.

How will VPN Help You access Twitter in China?

When you connect to a VPN server, all your data will be routed via it. This means that your data will bypass any filter setup by your ISP or government. The authorities will not be able to see that you have requested for twitter as VPN sends your data in an encrypted form over the internet. This is how, you will have absolute security and independence over the internet. When using a VPN connection, you can choose amongst a number of servers placed in different countries.
